Claim and protect land
Found your own town or join one that is already on the map. Claims protect the time your community puts into building it.

You begin in the wilderness on a huge Earth map. Where you go next is up to you: settle with friends, join an old nation, or build a new one from the ground up.
Land and community
Orion grows one settlement at a time. Residents plan together, share resources, trade with their neighbors, and slowly turn empty land into a home.
Found your own town or join one that is already on the map. Claims protect the time your community puts into building it.
A nation gives neighboring towns a shared identity, common goals, and a reason to think beyond a single base.
Town and nation deposits happen at bank plots. A town can use its homeblock while it has no bank plot, but once it builds one, that plot becomes its banking location.
Share resources, keep public records, talk in town chat, and use community tools to make the settlement feel lived in.
Our custom civic system
Nation leaders can found a government instead of leaving politics as a name and a chat channel. The system lives inside Orion and follows the towns and nations players already run.
Pick a presidential republic, parliamentary republic, constitutional monarchy, council democracy, autocracy, or write custom rules.
Create a national constitution in game, amend it later, and give citizens a public record of how their government works.
Use public offices, written laws, motions, referendums, and a state gazette to give national politics something players can take part in.
Economy and trade
Money moves through shops, auctions, town banks, private trades, and public projects. What you sell, and who needs it, matters.
A good storefront can turn an ordinary street, station, or market hall into a place players actually visit.
Browse the global exchange with /market or /shop, then use /shopsearch when you want to find a particular merchant.
The auction house works well for valuable finds that do not belong in an everyday shop.
Progress and tools
Gathering, combat, and practical skills improve while you use them. You do not need to stop playing normally just to level up.
Craft a special spyglass with a vanilla look, mark two points, and measure distances of up to 128 blocks.
A special lamp can connect to a lever, button, or daylight detector from as far as 50 blocks away.
Paint maps, display images, build moving doors, bottle experience, and make your town feel like more than an ordinary survival base.
Real-world geology
Orion keeps Minecraft's normal ore generation. Every ore still appears wherever vanilla Minecraft normally puts it, at the usual heights and in the usual terrain.
On top of that, Orion adds richer bonus regions for coal, iron, gold, and diamond. We calculate these regions from real-world mineral geography using the U.S. Geological Survey's Major Mineral Deposits of the World data. Mine in the right part of the Earth map and you may find these materials more often and in larger amounts.

Small beginnings
Players with active new-player protection appear small when they arrive. They gradually grow to full size as the seven-day protection timer runs out, so other players can spot a newcomer without checking a command.
/invulnerabilityoff if you are certain you want to give it up early, because the choice is permanent.Competition
When enough people are online, capture zones give everyone a reason to show up and compete. Bounties and scratch cards offer smaller risks on the side, but they do not define the server.
